2020: Announcement of service

On June 15, 2020 Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) presented a cloud solution of Edge Orchestrator by means of which telecommunication companies will be able to offer clients services in the field of peripheral calculations.

The idea is in that telecom operators used Edge Orchestrator for deployment of servers on border of the networks or directly on objects of corporate clients. Then the enterprise can start applications on these servers. As the equipment is closer to work location of the client, than remote data center, applications can work with the reduced delay.

HPE released a cloud for start of peripheral calculations in a telecom

Edge Orchestrator includes software tools which can be used for start and setup of "the general control functions" of boundary servers. HPE states that service does not depend on the hardware and allows suppliers to create a hosting environment using ready devices, including the HPE ProLiant servers.

After setup of the environment clients can unroll the workloads in the form of virtual machines or containers. According to developers, Edge Orchestrator provides the directory of applications from which customers can start previously packed applications "one click". Each user also receives the private administration console which he can use for management and monitoring of the placed workflows.

HPE positions Edge Orchestrator as a method using which telecommunication companies can leave in the market of peripheral calculations without use of public clouds. That HPE decided to compete with leaders of the cloud market, including Amazon, Microsoft and Google.

Commercial start of Edge Orchestrator service is planned for July, 2020.[1]
