Technology: ITSM - Management systems for IT service,  IaaS - Infrastructure as service,  Virtualization,  Data processing centers - technologies for DPC

HP Distributed Cloud Networking (DCN) is the software solution on the basis of software-defined networks for improvement of scalability and adaptation of distributed infrastructures.

On October 23, 2014 the HP company announced a release of the solution Distributed Cloud Networking (DCN).

DCN — the solution for the organization of software-defined networks (Software-Defined Networking, SDN) — helps service providers and to the large organizations automatically to unroll the protected "cloud" networks on a distributed infrastructure for read [1]. With the solution DCN telecom operators will accelerate implementation of virtualization of network functions (Network Function Virtualization, NFV) that will help them to optimize use of network resources and to accelerate an output to the market of new services.

The solution DCN with SDN and virtualization of networks provide centralized operation with the distributed network environment as a part of which several private, public or hybrid DPCs can work. The high level of control automation of DCN provides an investment payback in network equipment, reduces total cost of ownership to them due to improvement of service quality of users and increase in productivity of their work.

DCN simplifies selection of resources of network by means of components:

  • HP Virtualized Service Directory — is responsible for updating of structure of services and accomplishment of maintenance policies of customers. This module allows to manage effectively user profiles and also computing and network resources;

  • HP Distributed Services Controller — manages DPC network. With consolidation of controllers gives to network administrators an opportunity to manage on a centralized basis all network irrespective of the number of DPCs. Provides scalability, stability and unity of network;

  • the module of HP Distributed Virtual Routing and Switching founded on the program Open vSwitch switch — serves as the virtual endpoint for network services which is instantly distinguishing changes in computing environment and helping to reconfigure network according to requirements of applications.

The solution DCN is expected a wide range of use:

  • automation: difficult configuring of network can be executed automatically in real time without participation of the person. Processes of configuring are programmed using management tools applications of HP of Cloud System;

  • organization of self-service of IT environments: customers have an opportunity to pass from permanent reconfiguring of clouds to their effective operation;

  • creation of the environments consisting of several DPCs: users are serviced by at the same time many DPCs, with assistance of one quality level;

  • DevOps (development in interaction with users): the fast preparation of test environments allowing to accelerate deployment of the developed systems and, respectively, to improve adaptation of business to market changes;

  • NFV: the reliable, dynamic open architecture allowing the operator to pass smoothly to completely automated environment consisting of several data centers;

  • optimization of high-speed performance of the applications used by end users: the mechanism of transfer of workloads places applications closer to users at the expense of what high-speed performance increases and "responsiveness" of the user interface improves.

Prices and availability

For October 23, 2014 DCN is offered in all regions of the world where HP at the minimum price in $65,585 for [2] works [2]. Besides, DCN will be offered within the HP OpenNFV program as the solution for virtualization of networks.
