At the end of January, 2012 Hewlett-Packard will release HP Next Generation Information Platform — the software solution created by a join path of the companies purchased by it recently Vertica and Autonomy. The first — the system developer of Vertica Analytics Platform, the column database for accumulation and the analysis of the structured information. The second — the creator of the program IDOL server (Intelligent Data Operating Layer) allowing to index unstructured data including the text, audio and video, way of recognition and the analysis of their contents.
According to in HP, the integrated system will provide convenience of the analysis of the structured and unstructured data in a single stream of works. For example, the data loaded into Autonomy from the websites of social media can be investigated by means of functions of creation of graphs and the forecast analysis of Vertica. It is also possible to integrate the mechanism of the analysis of visits of the websites which is available in Vertica with an analysis system of expressions of Autonomy.
Autonomy HP purchased in October, and Vertica — in March, 2011.
Specialists of division of HP Autonomy updated IDOL — now a system has a number of the connection points allowing to integrate easily it with Vertica, the marketing director of HP Autonomy Nichole Egan reported. According to her, the tenth version of IDOL which appeared on December 1, 2011 will offer users an opportunity for work with the structured data stored in the Vertica system.
The integrated system will provide convenience of the analysis of the structured and unstructured data in a single stream of works whereas usually at the enterprise for these two tasks the separate systems are used.
For example, the unstructured data loaded into Autonomy from the websites of social media like Twitter can be investigated by means of functions of creation of social graphs and the forecast analysis of Vertica. It is also possible to integrate the mechanism of the analysis of a flow of mouse clicks Vertica with the analysis system of expressions implemented in Autonomy.
IDOL can work with video and audio. Analysis results of multimedia can be compared with the connected information from sensors or from the transaction journals stored in Vertica for the purpose of intellectual monitoring in real time. For example, the bank can check phone call from the client wishing to take the credit — the maintenance of the call can be investigated through Autonomy.
The single interface for work with data of IDOL and Vertica will also allow to create integrated solution. The analyst of Ovum Toni Baer considers that the products Autonomy and Vertica well suit one another: for example, the Autonomy system can be applied as the user part of Vertica.
