Technology: | Data processing centers are technologies for DPC |
Staff of the Moscow office of Hewlett-Packard company provided the strategy of creation of the centers of processing of new generation in September, 2011, focusing attention on questions of their design, construction and engineering support.
The container Performance Optimized Datacenter 240a announced this summer at a technology conference of HP of Discover 2011 in Las Vegas became one of components of this strategy.
As Sergey Chlek emphasized, the head HP BladeSystem in Russia, fundamental difference of POD 240a from the previous container HP solutions is air cooling. The method of cooling of the IT equipment placed in POD 240a is defined by the automated system created based on technology of HP by Adaptive Cooling which includes chillers, conditioners, temperature sensors and management tools air flows. This system allows to change the cooling modes from complete freecooling at a temperature of the air from 14 to 30 °C surrounding a container till a closed loop of conditioning. HP claims that to such modes there correspond values of effectiveness ratio of use of the electric power from 1.05 to 1.3.
The new container DPC consists of two in parallel the installed 12-meter modules, contains the server racks 54U high placed in two ranks, each of which is capable to contain to five chassis of lezviyny HP servers. As note in NR, total energy consumption of racks of DPC is, depending on the mode of cooling, from 1.5 to 2.3 MW.
Assembly of POD 240a is performed at factory in Houston. Build process and testings takes 12 weeks. The price of the basic set including the body, the cooling system, empty racks, distributing of power supply is 8 million dollars in the USA.
Including based on container solutions, the project division of HP of Critical Facilities Services which is a part of department of system integration of HP of Technology Services is engaged in support of projects of DPC.
As Alexander Zaytsev explained, the manager on development of the engineering systems of DPC, the division is organized after purchase of the EYP Mission Critical Facilities company performing consolidation of data processing centers of HP. Its functions include provision of services at all stages of lifecycle of DPC, including stages of strategic planning, design, construction and operation. One of problems of HP CFS — promotion of modular stationary DPCs of HP FlexDC with a total power of consumption more than 3 MW based on industrial approach to construction of data processing centers and the principles of multilevel hybrid design which allows to combine in one project of a zone with different levels of fault tolerance of the engineering systems.
In our country this division began to work last year; on its account about one and a half tens of projects executed and being in implementation phase. Among in them — the first, according to in HP, the DPC constructed in Russia according to requirements of Tier III. It is created for Data Space Partners company and specified on the website The Uptime Institute in the list of the projects having such certification.
The Russian division of HP CFS acts now generally as the general designer, attracting the foreign companies to construction and developing partnership with the Russian project organizations.
So far only one customer became interested in creation of DPC based on HP FlexDC in our country. Container DPCs of the company also did not draw special attention of domestic enterprises to the declaration of HP POD 240a as were issued with water cooling. Now provision begins to change, and already several companies intend to use "air" POD 240a which deliveries are planned for the end of the year. The HP local office believes that to Russia their basic sets will be delivered, and installation of IT systems will be performed on site.
