The Taiwan smartphone manufacturer of HTC makes investigation of spontaneous ignition of the device in France. According to Taiwan News, as a result of the incident which took place on June 21, 2017 the 25-year-old student from India got severe burns.^[1]

As told Kapoor (Nidhi Kapoor), the native of New Delhi who was injured Nydia who studies at the Strasbourg business school (EM Strasbourg Business School) according to the MBA program, it went in the morning to office when felt that phone in its hip-pocket was suddenly warmed.

The student got burns of the second degree from the HTC smartphone

Having got the device, the girl understood that there is with it something not so as the device became hot. She already wanted to throw out it, but was not in time — the smartphone exploded directly at her in hands. The girl not only got burns of the second degree, at it an eye still inflamed. Doctors believe that at explosion tiny splinters could get it into an eye and to become an infection source.

After Nydia's incident Kapoor announced everything in a support service of HTC through the official site of the company and its page on Facebook, but the company did not react in any way. Without having waited for the answer, the girl decided to draw attention, having published on the page in social network pictures of the bandaged hand. Then the representative of HTC who asked to provide the medical certificate, photos of phone and the damaged device contacted it.

A week later, the girl received from HTC the new U11 smartphone and a box for sending the burned-down gadget for examination.

In HTC responded to the edition request that carry out an inspection with participation of independent criminalistic service which will help to set the truth. Also in the company noted that the majority of similar cases happens because of external factors, but not because of products of HTC.

At the end of June, 2017 mass media reported a similar incident in Taiwan. Explosion of the HTC smartphone was declared by the man, but police officers established that that damaged the device. Also it became clear that he has a mental disorder.

Announcement

On May 16, 2017 the official announcement of the flagman HTC U11 smartphone took place. The device received the unusual management system which is built in side parts.

It is about the Edge Sense function: compression of a frame around the body users will be able to start, for example, the camera, to send messages and to open correspondences of e-mail. And construction reacts to contacts even if the smartphone wet or on a hand of the user the glove is put on. It is possible to configure Edge Sense independently.

The 5.5-inch Super LCD 5 display got permission 2560 x 1440 points and a cover plate  of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The hardware basis is constructed on the single-crystal Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system including eight computing cores with clock rate of 2.45 GHz and the graphic Adreno 540 accelerator.

Amount of RAM depending on the version can be 4 or 6 Gbytes, capacity built in a flash drive — 64 or 128 Gbytes respectively. Connection of the replaceable memory cards microSD with a capacity up to 2 Tbyte is possible. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with a corporate cover of HTC Sense is responsible for a program component.

Having squeezed HTC U11 inclusion buttons are slightly lower on each side, it is possible to start the camera and to make a photo, to include a small lamp or to address the voice assistant

The main camera is characterized by the 12-megapixel UltraPixel 3 sensor with pixels of 1.4 microns in size, f/1.7 diaphragm, double LED flash, optical stabilization of the image and a possibility of shooting of 4K-video and rollers of Full HD with a frame frequency up to 120 fps. The front camera is created by 16-megapixel.

The body of the device is executed of the glass and aluminum protected from water ingress and dust according to IP67 standard. Besides, there is an advanced stereosystem from external loudspeakers with the system of noise reduction, the fingerprint scanner and the rechargeable battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. At a thickness of 7.9 mm the device weighs 169 grams.
