At the end of July 2023, North Korea first showed a nuclear underwater drone Haeil-1, follows from a report by the DPRK Central Telegraph Agency. For the first time, the DPRK tested an underwater drone in March 2023. The drone stayed underwater for more than 40 hours. Tests were carried out on a looped route in the Sea of Japan.

In early April 2023, North Korea conducted new tests of the strategic underwater weapons of the Haeil-2, which is capable of carrying nuclear weapons. The Drone followed an elliptical and octagonal route, Korea's Central Telegraph Agency said. The device went a thousand kilometers in 71 hour and six minutes, then a mock-up of a nuclear charge was blown up. According to the North Korean agency, the tests confirmed the reliability of the system and its "deadly potential."

In April 2023, Pyongyang announced that the DPRK has been developing unmanned aerial vehicles capable of carrying nuclear weapons since 2012, and has conducted more than 50 tests over the past two years. Also, the country's authorities announced the creation of cruise missiles with nuclear warheads.

According to Reuters, some analysts doubt that North Korea is ready to deploy Haeil-2 drones. In turn, Pyongyang claims that the system is able to contain potential military aggression against the state.[1]
