2021: Announcement of intelligent introscopes for baggage and cargo inspection
On July 27, 2021, Hikvision introduced an updated line of X-ray inspection equipment for checking baggage and cargo on the Russian market. Introscopes support a mining server that automates the process of identifying objects by accurately identifying the type of prohibited and potentially dangerous objects. The data analysis server uses deep learning algorithms developed by Hikvision engineers and is able to determine up to 15 classes and up to 50 categories of hazardous objects and substances with atomic recognition.
According to the company, to optimize the speed and convenience of working with inspection complexes, Hikvision has developed a special data processing server (ISD-ST204D), which, using artificial intelligence and tuned patterns, can independently detect dangerous objects and substances by their shape and material. Using deep learning algorithms, the analytical module fixes items such as weapons (including its components), knives, lighters, aerosol cartridges, bottled liquids, mobile phones, boards, batteries, etc. Atomic recognition allows you to determine, among other things, the type of substance - for example, liquids (water, shampoo, paint, drugs, etc.). The operator can set the allowed and prohibited objects in the settings - in this case, the server will respond only to the selected objects, additionally highlighting potential threats in the image and sending an alarm when they are detected.
The server can be connected to an already installed X-ray complex, which works in multi-energy mode, including to third-party installations.
In the Hikvision introscope range, devices operating in mono- and multi-energy modes are presented. The monoenergy mode allows you to obtain pseudo-color images based on the analysis of the density of the material of the subject under study - the denser the material, the closer it is to the metal. The main information that the operator can get when the introscope works in monoenergy mode is the shape of the objects. The level of X-ray radiation in this embodiment is up to 80 kV. The multi-energy mode generates color images, based on the results of the material analysis, objects will be highlighted depending on their atomic structure (each class and category can be assigned its own color), drawing the operator's attention to a potentially dangerous load. Such analysis requires a higher penetrability, so the X-ray power in multi-energy devices will be higher - more than 140 kV.
An important parameter in inspection complexes is the number of projections that the introscope can work with. For example, flat objects may not be visible in the horizontal projection, but will be visible in the vertical projection. X-ray inspection units with two projections provide more information about the contents of the cargo and more accurately identify dangerous and prohibited items.
The internal Hikvision introscope chamber and other tunnel elements are equipped with special steel plates to protect the operator and nearby people from X-rays. At a distance of 5 centimeters from the installation, the radiation level is 0.1 μSv/h, which is less than the natural background and poses no threat to the health and life of others. The double shutters of the introscope are also covered with lead sputtering, the thickness of two curtains is 4 centimeters.
To our experience of analyzing human faces, types of transport, traffic and events, subject analytics have now been added, when algorithms based on patented deep learning technologies can accurately determine the type, category and class of cargo transported. This is especially important in places where a large number of people with luggage pass in a short period of time, and operators need to quickly identify potential threats - airports, railways or bus stations, stadiums, security facilities, production, etc. Artificial intelligence also helps to reduce the number of errors due to the human factor, when the operator in a large stream may not notice things forbidden to carry or carry. Inspection complexes belong to those security systems that as of July 2021 still require the presence of a human operator. But with the help of intelligent technologies, as well as with the help of additional projections and modes - baggage and cargo inspection tasks are performed more quickly. said Konstantin Belyanin, nonCCTV product manager, Hikvision Russia |
