2020: Honda withdraws 608 thousand cars because of the rejected software which leads to reset of on-board computers
At the beginning of August, 2020 Honda withdraws 608 thousand cars because of the rejected software which leads to reset of on-board computers. Besides, software failures are capable to lead to failure of the reserve camera and operation of the display. The revocable campaign starts on September 23.
A number of the Odyssey 2018-2020, Passport 2019-2020 and Pilot 2019-2021 cars of was equipped with "the software with the module of control of the meter panel". Because of a software glitch on the display important information, for example, the speed, oil pressure in the engine and switch position of transfers can not be displayed until the car is rebooted. According to National administration of traffic safety (NHTSA), these displays can also spontaneously reboot. The faulty software can also interfere with data mapping from the reserve camera. Honda promises to notify owners, but drivers should reinstall the software at the dealer. Wireless correction of software will not be.
One more response concerns 500,000 cars of the same series which had a problem with software capable to delay or interfere with data mapping from the rear-view camera. The problem can also concern the automobile audio system. Owners of these cars can or load correction on a wireless network, or visit the dealer. Besides, some Odysseys cars of 2019-2020 were equipped with faulty reserve cameras which led over time to image deformation while Odysseys 2018-2020 has problems with snapping of a sliding door. However, Honda not for the first time have faults of the software - in 2018 the company withdrew about 232,000 cars of Accords and Insights because of the same problem with the reserve camera.[1]
