Honeywell Advanced Process Control (APC) is the hardware and software system integrated into the distributed control system operating on a technology object.
Opportunities and functions of an APC system:
- APC manages installation in the automatic mode. Process "data collection – forecasting – calculation and issue of new settings" repeats on each temporary clock period:
- an APC system works in the mode of "real time".
- APC is some kind of "auto pilot" for process system, but with more developed optimization functions, than at an auto pilot and similar to it systems.
- An APC system manages installation, and the operator manages an APC system.
- Visualization in real time figures of merit of products by means of virtual analyzers
- Automatic control of figures of merit and other important technology variables
- Stabilization of the technology mode
- Search and maintenance of optimal operation modes of a technology object in technical and economic criteria
- Reduction of number of violations of the mode, decrease in losses
- Increase in level of industrial automation
- Production reliability augmentation
