Apache Ambari is completely open environment of management, reservation and monitoring of clusters of Apache Hadoop.
As a part of Ambari intuitive tool kit of the operator and a set of the API interfaces hiding complexity of Hadoop and simplifying management of clusters. The project is directed to software development which will facilitate selection of resources, management and monitoring of clusters of Apache Hadoop.
As a part of the Ambari components which are supported by Hadoop now:
- HDFS,
- MapReduce,
- Hive,
- HCatalog,
- HBase,
- ZooKeeper,
- Oozie,
- Pig,
- Sqoop.
Ambari helps system administrators:
1. Create Hadoop cluster:
- the step-by-step master in installation of services Hadoop on any has quantity of hosts;
- processes configurations of Hadoop services in a cluster;
2. Manage Hadoop cluster:
- Ambari provides centralized operation of start, a stop and reconfiguration of services of all cluster of Hadoop;
3. Provide monitoring of a cluster of Hadoop:
- Ambari provides a panel of monitoring of working capacity and a status of a cluster of Hadoop;
- Ambari uses a collection of metrics;
- Ambari uses Nagios for the warning system and sending e-mail (for example, the node fails, on a disk there is not enough empty seat, etc.).
4. Provide easy integration of selection of resources, management and monitoring of Hadoop using Ambari API.
