2020: Huawei HiAI 3.0

On January 21, 2020 the Huawei company provided upgraded version of a cross-platform intellectual ecosystem of HUAWEI HiAI 3.0. Using the distributed algorithm, the ecosystem integrates program and hardware resources of different devices and does possible their full interaction.

According to the developer, HUAWEI HiAI is the open platform for implementation of intellectual functions on mobile devices which uses architecture "processor-cloud the device-". Due to opening for third-party developers of opportunities of chipsets, applications and services, HUAWEI HiAI promotes creation of a convenient and innovation intellectual ecosystem, reducing costs for development. In two years since launch the ecosystem of HUAWEI HiAI extended and includes as of January, 2020 more than 4000 partners and about 96 million active users. The monthly number of addresses to API exceeds 600 billion.

"In version 3.0 the ecosystem of HUAWEI HiAI made big jump and passed to the distributed model. At the initial stage the version of HUAWEI HiAI 1.0 kept developments only one type of devices. Version 2.0 was expanded for support of smartphones, tablets and smart screens. At last, HUAWEI HiAI 3.0 went further away: it integrates any hardware resources in "the uniform device". As noted in Huawei, the ecosystem of HUAWEI HiAI 3.0 will and expand further open opportunities of chipsets, devices and cloud services. The HiAI Foundation fund opens for third-party developers of a possibility of chipsets HUAWEI, allowing to use fully advantages of energy efficiency and high accuracy processor Kirin 990 to improvement of artificial intelligence outside the existing restrictions. The HiAI Engine engine opens for developers additional opportunities among which there is a recognition of hand-written input and gestures, more than 40 API and new approach to implementation computer vision. In turn, it helps developers to create useful applications with intellectual functions for the most different scenarios of use. In addition the HiAI platform increases convenience of development of cross-platform solutions: it is required to annexes access to the services only once then they can be used on different types of devices, including smartphones, tablets and smart screens.

HUAWEI HiAI works with a wide range of partners, aiming to accelerate development of standards of the software for local artificial intelligence on devices. Due to standardization of interfaces of an output and applications, HUAWEI HiAI accelerates commercial implementation of artificial intelligence on devices and helps developers to increase continuously comfort of users in interaction with local AI, the developer claims.

According to the statement of the developer, the ecosystem of HUAWEI HiAI will continue to develop and expand actively support of intellectual services for developers, ensuring stable functioning of artificial intelligence in the most various scenarios and guaranteeing to users the high level of comfort in interaction with mobile devices. At the same time HUAWEI HiAI will and develop further close cooperation with industry partners in the direction of development of the software standards for local artificial intelligence, acceleration of large-scale commercialization and implementation of innovations.

2018: HiAI 2.0 presentation

On November 12, 2018 the Huawei company submitted the open HiAI 2.0 platform created for support of development of solutions based on artificial intelligence (On-Device AI). The provided version of the platform offers application developers the open ecosystem providing simple access to intellectual opportunities of processors, devices and cloud services of Huawei through HiAI Foundation, HiAI Engine and HiAI Service.

In April, 2018 Huawei submitted the mobile platform of artificial intelligence of HiAI 1.0. Offering developers operators and API- interfaces the first platform helped to reduce time and complexity of application development. The second version of the HiAI 2.0 platform will give them still the big computing power, the various API sets and the improved support on different devices. It considerably will lower a barrier to an input in application development with artificial intelligence, and will allow a bigger number of developers to join the project for creating applications. HiAI Engine offers application developers ample opportunities for the choice. One of the last examples of work of HiAI Engine can be seen in a series of smartphones of HUAWEI Mate 20 provided recently. The AI Spotlight Reel function used in flagman devices is capable to identify automatically videos with identical characters and to automatically generate 10-second clips. Function uses a sensing technology of persons, the provided AI Engine. The high computing power provided to HiAI allows AI Engine to make all process of editing directly on the smartphone.

For November, 2018 more than 1000 partners and 450,000 developers actively work with Huawei HiAI ecosystem. Results of their work use more than 300 million users of intellectual functions and applications worldwide. Within the HiAI program 13 research centers Huawei and 2 open laboratories cooperating with local developers work. These laboratories also help application developers to distribute the projects worldwide.
