Start in Russia

On December 20, 2018 the company Huawei reported that it together with UnionPay started in Russia the system of contactless payment of HUAWEI Pay. According to the company, Russia became the second after China the country of presence of HUAWEI Pay. mobile Holders cards of UnionPay from "Gazprombank" and "Rosselkhozbank", using smartphones HUAWEI can become the first users of a payment service and HONOR.

Start of payment system in Russia became an important stage in development of service. The system of HUAWEI Pay is created for providing quick and convenient access to the next technologies and services to users worldwide.

First of all the HUAWEI Pay service will be supported by the credit and debit cards UnionPay issued by Gazprombank and Rosselkhozbank. In 2019 HUAWEI is going to expand the list of partner banks in Russia.

For December, 2018 enter the list of models of the HUAWEI smartphones supporting contactless payments: HUAWEI Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 20 RS, P20, P20 Pro, P10, P10 Plus, HONOR 10, HONOR View 10 and HONOR 9.

The service of contactless payments HUAWEI Pay will be available in Russia in the first quarter 2019.

Partnership with UnionPay

In January, 2018 Huawei and UnionPay International signed the agreement within which they will work on an output to international market of the Huawei Pay system - the companies together developed a system in 2016 and now continue its development at the global level.

In the future owners of the Huawei and Honor mobile phones outside China will be able to make mobile payments, having linked the bank cards of UnionPay to phone with installed application of Huawei Pay. For carrying out transaction it is rather simple to bring phone to the point-of-sale terminal with support of a system of fast mobile payment of UnionPay. Huawei Pay uses the universal solution guaranteeing safety of payment and also technology of generation of tokens for effective protection of the personality and safety of these bank card owners.

The first Chinese service of mobile payments based on Huawei Pay security system processor already cooperates with 66 banks and is compatible to 20 mobile devices – their number includes different models of mobile phones and smartwatch. In 2017 via the Huawei Pay system payments of 4 billion yuans were made.

Russia will become the first market outside China on which service will be provided. Bank cards of UnionPay are accepted for 85% of the territory of Russia, and over 400 thousand payment terminals support a system of fast payment UnionPay. More than 10 Russian banks already issued nearly 1.3 million cards of UnionPay. Further Huawei and UnionPay intend to start the Huawei Pay system and in other East European markets.
