2021: Smart Glasses Announcement
At the end of December 2021, Huawei announced a new pair of smart glasses running HarmonyOS - Huawei Smart Glasses. They allow you to receive calls, listen to music, take notes without using a smartphone.
Smart glasses are released in the form factor of classic glasses. The device is presented in three stylistic variations, called Boston, Wellington and Aviato. The user can additionally use diopter or tinted lenses and UV protection depending on the needs. For music playback, content viewing and other features, the glasses are equipped with new 128mm ultra-thin speakers that provide hands-free access to the Celia Virtual Assistant. Smart glasses will remind the owner of meetings and read out messages, as well as report the weather.
The device also has IPX4 splash protection. The battery life is designed for 16 hours of mixed use - 4.5 hours of talk time and up to 6 hours of listening to music. The proprietary USB-C charging cable supports fast charging. Since the glasses have gesture support that allows you to use a combination of swipes, pinches and touches, the user, using any of these gestures or a combination of them, can control the playback of music and accept or reject calls. In addition, the device automatically pauses playback when the owner takes off his glasses.
The new smart glasses also track users' eye health and posture. For example, if the owner of the glasses begins to slouch, the device will give a warning signal about the dangerous consequences of such a pose.
The smart glasses start at $266 for the diopter lens model, and the sunglasses version will cost $299. Both versions are already available for order in China.[2]
