2018: Global start

In April, 2018 the IBM company announced global start of the system using artificial intelligence for the fashion industry. The solutions IBM Cognitive Fashion help designers to create clothes taking into account recent trends, and to sellers – to buy the most relevant things.

Development and system testing was conducted in the Indian laboratories IBM since 2016. In the 2018th it became available in Europe, the USA, Australia and the countries of the Pacific Rim.

IBM announced global start of an AI system for the fashion industry

At the heart of IBM Cognitive Fashion technologies of visual search, natural languag processing, a set of recommendations and trends are put in the fashion industries. Designers, using this platform, will be able to select colors and different elements of dresses, sweaters, shirts, etc. according to current trends.

The Marchesa brand became one of the first partners of IBM in the field of a "smart" fashion. Supercomputer Watson analyzed hundreds of dresses from carpet tracks and became the color specialist of Marchesa. Designers could select unusual color scheme which profitable provided a brand and became reflection of emotions of admirers, note in IBM.

Marchesa used Watson Tone Analyzer API to analyze Twitter message of admirers and reacted to them in real time. Voices and moods of admirers changed color of a cognitive dress.

For development of the project IBM began to cooperate with the American National Institute of technology of a fashion (National Institute of Fashion Technology). Jointly efforts created a fashion line which began to be sold under a famous brand of Tommy Hilfiger.[1]
