IT heads, as a rule, make decisions concerning transactions of the services without use of tools which can help with interpretation and data modeling. Now such initiatives and workflows as planning of future investments into the corporate data processing center (DPC) or implementation of the innovative technologies it is similar to "cloud" calculations, it is possible to make more predictable that will allow to save, by estimates of IBM, up to 40% on IT costs by approval of required IT resources of business growth.
Among analytical opportunities:
- IBM Alternate Cash Flow Analysis — helps to define what alternative implementations of working activities of DPC or IT infrastructure can promote achievement of business objectives of the company with the maximum cost efficiency and also find answers to the questions "Whether to Consolidate the Available Resources or to Carry Out Radical Upgrade?", "Will Be Required Two Data Processing Centers or Enough One?", "To what strategy give preference – short-term advantages or long-term perspectives?" (analysis of this sort at first assesses the consequences of "the strategy of passivity" (do-nothing strategy) – for example that will happen to the existing investments if to leave them in a present status; such assessment allows to set basis for other financial comparisons);
- IBM Physical Threshold Capacity Analysis — helps to predict required resources of corporate DPC in the long term, allowing clients to define how long possibilities of their DPC will correspond to business needs and when upgrade is required (the algorithm developed by IBM Research stated on obtaining the patent promotes improvement of decision making process and increase business performance, providing use of special computing mechanisms and techniques of modeling to give the answer to the question "How in the Best Way to Be Prepared for the Unpredictable Growth of Resource Requirement of a Data Processing Center?");
- IBM Resiliency Rationalization Analysis — helps clients to define correctly fault tolerance of infrastructure of their DPC (the existing indicators applied to reliability assessment are concentrated, mostly, on a capital expenditure and do not promote understanding how such characteristics as readiness and uninterrupted operation of operation of the equipment and systems affect the continuity of business processes. Using information on the applied applications, recovery terms, quality of operational service and other parameters in the form of initial data, this function allows clients to gain an impression about a ratio of indicators of readiness (working capacity) and costs for measures for reduction of risk of unplanned idle times).
In general application of the advanced means of predictive analytics from IBM for cash flow analysis, determination of limits of DPC on support of workloads and assessment of need of improvement of reliability can help heads of IT services and business divisions to plan and manage more effectively information and technology infrastructure and financial budgets, claim in corporation.
