Watson Health Cloud is the open cloud platform focused on doctors, researchers, insurance agents and the companies specializing in solutions for beauty and health.
Within expansion of the cognitive computing computer platform Watson IBM signed partnership agreements with the companies Apple, Johnson&Johnson and Medtronic that through joint efforts to achieve the highest efficiency in questions of collecting, data analysis and feedback when using the user and professional medical devices.
Recommendations about a broad spectrum of questions from councils for improvement of health and prevention of diseases, to instructions on need of emergency aid or long-term treatment will be developed. Relationship between the listed corporations is not exclusive and IBM expects that, as a set of other companies will use a cloud platform of Watson Health Cloud.
IBM and Apple intend to expand the cooperation at the expense of IBM Watson Health Cloud therefore the safe cloud platform and analytical tools of IBM will be used by the HealthKit and ResearchKit applications from Apple. The solution of IBM will allow to collect and store information on the state of health entered by the user in the IOS-APPLICATIONS. Besides, the safe and open system of storage will open for health workers access to the most hi-tech and analytical opportunities of solutions of IBM.
Johnson&Johnson cooperates with IBM for the purpose of creation of the intelligent training systems where the main attention will be paid to the preoperative and postoperative help to patients, including when replacing a joint or backbone operations. Mobile solutions will have access to the Watson Health Cloud platform and to use cognitive technologies supercomputer IBM Watson. Moreover Johnson&Johnson hopes to start the new applications for health directed to treatment of chronic diseases for which today consumers spend 80% of the total amount of global expenses on health care in $7 trillion.
Medtronic uses analytical outputs of Watson Health Cloud for development together with IBM of the new personalized solutions on assistance to diabetic patients. This solution will allow to collect and analyze information on the state of health and data of different devices of Medtronic, including dosers of insulin and glucose meters which will be used afterwards for development of dynamic and individual strategy of treatment of diabetes for the patient and medical personnel.
Using achievements of IBM in the field of cognitive calculations and security, in the field of analytical and cloud computing, the new division of Watson Health aims to simplify considerably for doctors, researchers and insurance agents innovation process. The Boston children's hospital received the status of the main partner of Watson Health in pediatrics owing to the existing relationship between two organizations. IBM will integrate deep and iterative research examination of the Watson system and its capability to respond to the requests to strengthen and expand OPENPediatrics – an innovative initiative of the Boston children's hospital which is aimed at distribution among tutors in child care facilities of medical knowledge of rescue of life worldwide.
Faculties (Departments) of Pathology and Cytology and System biology of the Medical center of Columbia University will cooperate with IBM within IBM Watson testing that will help oncologists of the Colombian general education oncological center of Herbert Irving to use data of the analysis of DNA for development of the personalized recommendations about care of patients. Colombia is already the 16th oncological center which using the program of the genomic analysis Watson uses high-precision medicine for treatment of patients around the world. Now based on ResearchKit at Sage active projects on breast cancer and Parkinson's disease work. Further Sage and IBM will cooperate within integration of IBM Watson Health Cloud and Sage BRIDGE server and Synapse, the information platform containing large-scale grouping of data, knowledge and examination of all organizations that will allow to solve some most complex problems of biomedical researches. Teva Pharmaceuticals announced that IBM Watson Health Cloud will become a global technology platform of Teva for creation of the solutions which are specially developed for the help to millions of people around the world having difficult and chronic diseases, such as asthma, acute pain and neurodegenerative frustration. Teva is going to provide the first, developed using digital technologies, medical solution in 2016.
