2022: The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will spend 1.6 billion rubles on updating control and relay aircraft
At the end of September 2022, it became known about the serial modernization of the IL-22 SURT control and relay aircraft. The corresponding contract Ministry of Defence RUSSIAN FEDERATION was signed by "" Experimental Machine-Building Plant named after V.M. Myasishchev(EMZ, part of the UAC Transport Aviation Division).
As specified TASS in the UAC, as part of the execution of the state contract, work is being carried out on the serial modernization of the Il-38N naval aviation anti-submarine aircraft NAVY Russia , Il-22PP electronic warfare aircraft, reconnaissance, control and relay aircraft Il-22 SURT.
It is noted that a closed tender for the repair and modernization of five Il-22M11 aircraft for 1.6 billion rubles was announced in 2018. Repair and modernization of each of the five aircraft required from 310 to 333 million rubles.
The Il-20/Il-22 family of military aircraft was created on the basis of the civilian Il-18 turboprop liner, which attracted the military with its economy and ability to stay in the air for a long time. Several special-purpose vehicles were created on this platform: measuring complexes for testing rocket technology, radio reconnaissance aircraft and air command posts, jammers.
The Il-22M-11 SURT is a mobile air station of the front-level command and joint groups of troops. Previously, such aircraft were assigned to the commanders of the branches of the troops, the leadership of the military districts, currently the updated CPSU will be attached to the command structures involved in a specific operation. As part of the modernization, the aircraft receives modern equipment capable of providing a high level of communication in combat conditions.[1]
