2017: Announcement
In December, 2017 at an annual conference of society of radiologists of North America (RSNA) the Philips Healthcare company provided the first-ever spectral system of a computer tomography IQon Elite Spectral CT to Chicago.
The scanner uses spectral data for obtaining the detailed high-quality images allowing specialists more precisely and quicker to set the diagnosis. As a result the need for repeated inspections decreases, and treatment is appointed quicker. It is expected that IQon Elite will satisfy requirements of departments of emergency aid and emergency stations. Besides, medicine is intended for rendering the oncological help.
IQon Elite Spectral CT is the first spectral KT-system allowing to set the exact diagnosis already at the first scanning, - says Vesdorp (Kees Wesdorp), the head of department of visualization diagnostics of Philips Turned sour. - IQon Elite Philips provides higher level of data processing and increases capacity of KT-devices. |
IQon Elite consists of a x-ray tube on 120-140 kilovolts and the detector NanoPanel registering hard and soft radiation at the same time that allows to create spectral and normal images quickly.
The scanner allows to diagnose easily marrow pathology due to detailed visualization as it is capable to estimate the electronic density of fabrics. Besides, the device is equipped with a couch for radiation therapy and a bariatric table for a research of patients with excess body weight. Such table provides controlled positioning and, respectively, the best visualization of pathology. High speed of work allows to scan up to 200 patients in 16 hours; it is especially important at high loads of specialists of emergency aid.
The iQon Elite system should come to the commercial market in December, 2017.[1]
