2021: Icobrain Announcement - Programs for Stroke Impact Analysis
At the end of February 2021, the developer software based on AI Icometrix released ON icobrain cva to analyze the consequences of ischemic (stroke infarction) by brain KT pictures.
Perfusion imaging is crucial in acute ischemic stroke because it allows quantification of the penumbra tissue to be saved and irreversible damage to the cerebral cortex. Such studies help doctors choose the optimal treatment through reperfusion.
Perfusion CT uses deconvolution techniques to obtain clinically interpreted perfusion parameters that identify brain tissue abnormalities. The arterial admission function (AIF) and the venous blood exit function are used as inputs to the model, with AIF being the most important factor. However, in manual execution, the selection of these functions takes time, is characterized by poor reproducibility and depends on the experience of a specialist. The result of such a study is not always reliable and can lead to treatment errors.
The icobrain cva software analyses tissue perfusion in CT scans in patients with ischemic stroke and determines the volume of cerebral cortex lesion and the volume of perfusion lesion by quantifying cerebral blood flow reduction. AI-based cloud software provides perfusion maps and a specialized report to determine the correctness of the selected blood intake function. The assessment of perfusion in this way is based on deep learning. Unlike previously used clustering or segmentation methods, icobrain cva is directly optimized for assessing vascular function, which allows better recognition of time curve profiles.[1]
