2021: Creating a device for watching films with odors in the Russian Federation
In early July 2021, it became known about the creation in Russia of technology for watching films with the odors of Illusion Aroma. Aroma video tracking was developed by Illusion with the support of the National Technology Initiative (STI).
As told to Vedomosti in Illusion, a smart device is able to synthesize and spray odors from several replaceable cartridges, depending on the scene on the screen. The technology of the odor track was created by analogy with the sound track, explains the project manager Ilya Finatov.
Smells are distributed throughout the film in the same way as sound. We plan to provide many smells with mixing, as in the color palette. We analyzed the scenes of more than a hundred films and highlighted the most frequent smells that will definitely be in the library. For example, the smell of coffee and fresh pastries, "he said in a conversation with the publication. |
To create a library of smells, the developers analyzed scenes of more than a hundred films and identified the most popular flavors - for example, fresh pastries and coffee. At first, a track with odors is added manually at the installation stage, but plans to train this neural network, which would itself recognize the object in the picture and its smell. By the beginning of July 2021, the base includes synchronized "audio-smell" tracks for hundreds of films.
Illusion Aroma connects to your TV or computer via Bluetooth. The gadget itself looks like a column with four reels of seven cartridges in each.
Developers offer both direct sales of the device and subscription to odor cartridges. The cost of the device for the end user Illusion is 50 thousand rubles. For large-scale production of the product, developers plan to attract 40 million rubles from the National Technical Initiative and private investors.[1]
