2019: Announcement

On February 21, 2019 the INFINIDAT company announced the solution InfiniBox Always On Cluster in the DWH, having added a data availability guarantee.

According to the company, Always On Cluster works at a basis of two DWH of InfiniBox (with reliability in seven nine of 99.99999%) and the arbitrator (witness) carried by the 3rd separate domains with the reserved IP network between them. It allows customers to pass from traditional architecture with two controllers to three controllers on each platform with the increased redundancy level as within the specific website, and in general. Such architecture provides the following level of availability as transition to other resource it just switching of a way, as at failure of the adapter or switch.

Main differences of the solution InfiniBox Always On Cluster:

• it is constructed on the basis of DWH of InfiniBox,
• it is completely integrated into uniform management of DWH, there are no additional expenses – all inclusive in the basic license,
• for communication between platforms TCP/IP is used that provides optimal cost in comparison with FC,
• the minimum influence on performance, servers know with what DWH it is necessary to work.

The vendor did not change the views and did not begin to state a metrocluster as a separate product which needs to be bought, managed, monitored and supported. The solution Always On Cluster is integrated in DWH of InfiniBox, does not require the separate gateway and is provided to all current users of DWH of INFINIDAT with the current agreement on support as free software updating.

INFINIDAT also announces the program of a guarantee of data availability for the customers using the solution Always On (Active/Active). According to this program, customers have the right to use a guarantee of Always On Guarantee meaning compensation of vendor in case of problems with data access. The vendor defines unavailability of data as follows: the end user cannot because of circumstances for which he is not responsible at all, to get access and to use the protected saved data at least on one of DWH of InfiniBox in the Always On system. Such unavailability is not planned and more than 30 seconds last. At the same time should be DWH on the paid guarantee/support.

Depending on delivery patterns of DWH of InfiniBox to the customer, the vendor offers three options of compensation at unavailability of data.

In the modern world, high data availability is the strict requirement for services of most of customers. Multicloud strategy also pushes to such solutions. Emergence of functionality of a metrocluster in solutions of InfiniBox is quite expected and competitors propose similar solutions. INFINIDAT is selected with the fact that the metrocluster does not require acquisition of additional licenses and can be implemented on the available equipment "though now". The announced program of the Always On Guarantee data access should install even more trust in the customers who are going to use DWH of InfiniBox.
