2022: Correcting Critical Vulnerabilities in BIOS

On May 12, 2022, it became known that Intel has released fixes for many vulnerabilities in its products, including a series of critical vulnerabilities in the BIOS of several processor models. More details here.

2019

W-2295, W-2275, W-2265, W-2255, W-2245, W-2235, W-2225 и W-2223

On October 7, 2019, Intel introduced the updated Intel Xeon W processor line.

Intel Xeon W

According to the company, the Intel Xeon W-2200 platform is a good choice for professional content creators. Eight processors (W-2295, W-2275, W-2265, W-2255, W-2245, W-2235, W-2225 and W-2223) provide high performance and wide platform capabilities for working with data analysis, creating special effects, 3D rendering, complex modeling in 3D CAD, development in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as peripheral implementation. Processors can be used with a variety of form factors - from notebooks to tower-type cases - and include professional platform features for security and reliability, such as ECC and vProTM. For example, in October 2019, with updated processors, architectural 3D rendering in Revit V-Ray is 10% faster than in previous generation systems, and twice as fast compared to workstations three years ago.

Prices for updated Xeon W processors range from $294 to $1,333.

Start

On January 30, 2019, Intel announced the launch of the Intel Xeon W-3175X, a processor designed to work with the most demanding professional applications.

Intel Xeon W-3175X

According to the company, this 28-core unblocked multiplier computing station is designed to work with resource-intensive multi-threaded applications, for example, in the field of architectural or industrial design, as well as for professional content creation.

Designed for demanding multi-threaded applications and tasks, the Intel Xeon processor W-3175X delivers single-core and overall performance for large workloads.

Thanks to the largest number of cores and threads, PCIe lines, the amount of supported memory that is common to all Intel desktop processors, the Intel Xeon W-3175X processor has the characteristics that are especially important for large-scale projects of so-called mega-task, for example, when editing films or 3D rendering. Other core processor features and features include:

  • Intel Mesh architecture, which provides low latency and high throughput when moving data between processor cores, cache, memory, and I/O subsystem, as well as an increased number of cores per processor, is an important factor when running demanding workloads with more threads than content creators and other professional users.
  • Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, a highly accurate tool to help experienced overclockers configure processors with unlocked multiplier.
  • Intel Extreme Memory Profile, which simplifies memory acceleration by eliminating blind settings.
  • The ability to adjust the coefficient offset (ratio offset) for the Intel Advanced Vector Extensions 512 (Intel AVX-512) and trim voltage of the memory controller allows you to optimize overclocking frequencies regardless of SSE or AVX workloads and achieve maximum memory frequency.
  • Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, which delivers processor performance up to 4.3 GHz.
  • Up to 68 PCIe platform lines, an Intel Smart Cache with 38.5 MB capacity, a 6-channel DDR4 memory controller with support for up to 512 GB of memory at 2666 MHz, and support for ECC and standard RAS features for powerful peripherals and high-performance tools.
  • Intel C621 chipset-based systems that support Intel Xeon W-3175X processors enable professional content creators to take performance to the next level.
  • The Asetek 690LX-PN Solid-State Liquid Cooling System, a customised solution that can be purchased separately from Asetek, provides uninterrupted processor operation during both standard settings and acceleration.
  • With the Intel Xeon W-3175 processor, "Infiltrator Demo" is built in the Unreal Engine 1.52 times faster than with the Intel Core i9-9980XE2 processor.

2018: Announcement

On October 8, 2018, Intel Intel introduced processor the Intel Xeon W-3175X with unlocked multiplier.

Designed to operate at high frequency and support functionality for workloads - with both a small and a large number of threads - these processors will cope with the most difficult tasks and launch the most demanding applications, the company claims. The solution is based on Intel Mesh Architecture, which increases memory and I/O throughput while reducing latency.

The 28-core Intel Xeon processor was designed to deliver the high performance required for these large, compute-intensive workloads. It provides turbojet operation at a core frequency of up to 4.3 GHz, supports up to 56 streams and has an unlocked multiplier, which allows it to be used for overclocking.

In addition, the platform provides an Intel Smart Cache of 38.5 MB and support for 6-channel DDR4 memory with the ability to address up to 512 GB of memory running at 2666 MHz with ECC support and standard RAS features.

Deliveries of the Intel Xeon W-3175X processor will begin in December 2018.
