Philips warned about cracking of systems
In the middle of November, 2019 Philips issued the message for workers of health care in which warned about the problems of cyber security connected with the hubs IntelliBridge EC40 and EC80.
Systems serve for automatic adjustment of the connected devices in hospitals. The solutions IntelliBridge allow to convert information obtained from different medical devices in different formats into the uniform standard. Thanks to such system doctors can browse aggregated data about the patients who are in the general department and intensive care unit.
Philips reported that in the systems of cyber security IntelliBridge vulnerability which use can provide unauthorized access of the hacker to data of the patient was detected. Unauthorized users can also start the software, change system configuration and update files of patients.
Philips contacted the certified auditor of information systems of Department of internal security concerning this vulnerability. No proofs that vulnerability was already used by hackers are available. Philips is going to release a patch for the software of the IntelliBridge systems by the end of the third quarter 2020. Before in all hospitals with the hubs Philips IntelliBridge EC40 or EC80 employees should ask any questions in a support service of Philips.
Besides, the Philips company created the public voluntary program for disclosure of information on vulnerabilities of cyber security. The program allows clients, to security researchers, to regulating authorities and other agencies to announce potential vulnerabilities in products of Philips.[1]
