2018: Announcement of the version of IntelliSpace Discovery 3.0
On November 20, 2018 the Philips Healthcare company provided IntelliSpace Discovery 3.0 – the new version of the software platform developed for development and deployment of algorithms of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiological clinical trials.
The IntelliSpace Discovery platform was used earlier for application development which executed adjustment, segmentation and assessment of radiological images. More than 50 medical and academic institutions use it for clinical assessment of advanced applications of visualization worldwide.
Version 3.0 IntelliSpace Discovery offers the new applications and tools focused on AI and intended for collecting, processing and anonymization of data which can be used for training and check of algorithms of deep learning. According to developers, using the platform radiologists will be able to develop applications for the analysis of new data sets and performing clinical trials in the field of a radiology, oncology, neurology and cardiology.
According to data of Philips, IntelliSpace Discovery 3.0 supports integration with the existing clinical infrastructure that allows to get access to the bases for data easily. Besides, new tools allow to process images for the subsequent analysis of AI.
The research archive of the platform used for loading and data processing may contain as structured, and unstructured data. Within algorithm elaboration of machine learning batch processing of data can be executed in the environment of scalable calculations, supporting iterative development and validation of algorithms. According to Philips, possibilities of AI include multiple parameter support, segmentation and annotation, quantitative assessment and stratification of tumors and also creation of neuronets for deep learning.
Clients will also have direct access to the research Philips group which will render a number of services from consultations and before application development.[1]
2017: The presentation in Russia
In March, 2017 the Philips company presented the multimodal solution for visualization and the analysis of medical images IntelliSpace Discovery in Russia. This technology is developed especially for scientific research and allows scientists to develop own algorithms and to integrate them into the uniform IT platform. The innovative solution includes packets for the advanced scientific research in the field of oncology, neurology and cardiology and will allow specialists to manage and exchange clinical data effectively. It will be possible to get data access from any computer in the local area network using the web browser.
"Thanks to the intuitive interface IntelliSpace Discovery researchers will be able easily to find and select information for the analysis, work surely in applications, to browse and study clinical data, – Georgy Shakirin, the senior research associate of Philips comments. – The highly skilled development team and research associates of Philips created the innovative solution which will allow to develop own algorithms and to be engaged in creation of IT infrastructure for carrying out the advanced scientific research. The offered Philips IT infrastructure includes IntelliSpace Discovery, integration base for storage of medical images and other clinical data and also the platform for machine learning".
The innovative development of IntelliSpace Discovery is implemented into work of the leading research centers worldwide. For example, the Institute of cancer in Amsterdam uses special algorithms for processing and the analysis of MRT-images to estimate aggression of a tumor at patients with cancer of a rectum. For University Clinic of Cologne the command of Philips based on the solution IntelliSpace Discovery created IT infrastructure for carrying out scientific research in the field of machine learning.
