Autodesk Inventor is a 3D solid design system, the most powerful Autodesk solution for mechanical engineers. 3D CAD to create and learn about the behavior of Autodesk's digital prototypes of products and parts. Used mainly in mechanical engineering.
2021: PLM Component for Autodesk Inventor 2022
Appius, a Russian developer of PLM solutions on the 1C: Enterprise platform, announced the release of the PLM component for Autodesk Inventor 2022 on June 29, 2021. More details here.
2015: Autodesk Inventor 2016 Release
On April 13, 2015, the official release of Autodesk Inventor 2016 took place.
Inventor 2016 is only available in 64-bit versions. For 32-bit OS - version version LT.

- Working efficiently in a multi-system environment CAD
The technology, named by AnyCAD developers, allows associative import of data from CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, Pro-E/Creo, and Alias files. Imported geometry in Inventor is updated as the model changes in native CAD. The custom import feature allows you to read only the necessary data from part and assembly files and speed up the import process. Full multi-threading support enables Inventor to leverage hardware capabilities.
You can insert a DWG AutoCAD file into a part or assembly model and use it as a layout. The DWG geometry projection function allows you to obtain sketches that are associated with the original DWG file and use them for modeling. Changing the DWG in the AutoCAD will change Autodesk Inventor 3D models.
- Freeform
Many freeform part design tools have been added. You can convert solid model faces to arbitrary geometry to improve shape. The commands to correct, align, and edit the geometry of arbitrary shapes greatly enhance Autodesk Inventor 2016's ability to design models with complex shapes.
- 3D Printing Environment
You have created a new environment that allows you to define the position and orientation of the model in the print space of the selected 3D printer. You can edit or split a part in the print environment and such changes will not affect the original document. When finished, you can send the results to Print Studio, to another print program, or generate an STL file.
- Working with Drawings
Drawing views are simplified and are now oriented interactively on a drawing sheet using the ViewCube. Advanced text formatting, simplified callouts and tagging, and sketched symbol libraries are all for easier drawing design.
- Working with Disassembly Diagrams
The updated automatic disassembly tool allows you to get a one-click "mouse" diagram of the disassembly assembly of your product, and the ability to directly manipulate when creating shifts will help you easily and quickly refine the diagram to the desired view.
- Graphics and Visualization Enhancements in Inventor Studio
A new visualization engine that works using beam tracing algorithms and support for image-based lighting (IBL) allow you to obtain high-quality images.

- General improvements
- Parts made of sheet material. You can work with multi-body parts and create bends with a zero radius
- Sketches. Now it's easy to know which sketch the body feature is based on, the sketches themselves have new reference views and the ability to hide dimensions.
- Communication with AutoCAD Electrical. The redesigned associative mechanism between the model in Autodesk Inventor and the schema in AutoCAD Electrical allows you to quickly make changes to projects.

Autodesk Inventor is a family of mechanical 3D CAD that allows you to work with high performance and share design information with all stakeholders.
