The Iomega company specializing in area of storage systems for small and medium business and the distributed enterprises, working as a part of EMC announced in April, 2011 integration of products of network storage of Iomega StorCenter into the AXIS Video Hosting System (AVHS) system from Axis Communications. Now Iomega delivers the first models of network systems of storage (NAS) StorCenter with the built-in client of AVHS allowing customers to store video files locally in the HDTV format or megapixel permission and at the same time to send stream video data to the protected remote storage of hosting provider.
Network systems of storage of Iomega with support of AVHS in combination with the Axis network cameras and coders allow resellers and integrators to offer customers from the sphere of small and medium business (SMB) of a possibility of video surveillance in protected, far off the available and economic solution which cost is comparable to the analog systems on the basis of DVR with a small amount of video cameras.
The software of AXIS Video Hosting System (AVHS) represents the Axis platform for creation of the portal of the service provider intended for management of a hosting of video surveillance and services of monitoring. Any end user having connection with the Internet can exercise such control. This platform which was created for video surveillance of the professional grade is intended for fast deployment on platforms of the customer with a small number of cameras (normal less than 10) and is especially profitable to the organizations with several platforms, such as franchasing companies and departments of banks.
According to the program of technology partnership Axis Technology Partner Program (TPP) the Iomega company together with Axis developed solutions with a high integration scale and the guaranteed support. Iomega included in the new desktop two-disk Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 Cloud Edition NAS system of the client of AVHS. This system of network storage has capacity up to 6 TB, and the new four-disk Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d Cloud Edition system - up to 12 TB.
As noted, capacity in 4 TB can be enough for the users performing monitoring of the changing scenes approximately for 40 days - if video is recorded from four cameras with the standard settings set by default (640x480, compression of 30%, complete picture frequency). As much as possible to expand functionality of storage, system integrators can work, for example, with end users for setup of write flip-flops on events and deliveries of flows of video of higher quality, HDTV or megapixel video to the device with video or an audioraspozavaniye.
In the second half of 2011 Iomega integrates the client of AVHS into the rack storage systems, including chetykhdiskovy network system of Iomega StorCenter ix4-200r with a capacity up to 8 TB, and the 12-disk Iomega StorCenter ix12-300r system with a capacity up to 24 TB.
The combination of the storage devices Iomega StorCenter and the Axis network cameras allows customers to select different politicians of record and storage of video files both on the platform, and at provider. At the same time remote access from any Web browser is supported. Such solution gives to the companies the chance to use powerful tools and profitability of "cloud" services or to select the corporate system installed in the premises and the StorCenter device as NAS. At video hosting customers will pay only for the storage capacity necessary for them, increasing infrastructure without additional capital costs. Deployment time is also considerably reduced thanks to limited requirements to infrastructure.
The network system of storage of Iomega StorCenter uses the approved software of EMC LifeLine, completely developed operating environment based on Linux OS and an application suite created for cross-platform support of computers under Windows, Mac and Linux. The LifeLine operating system provides idle time in use the graphical interface simplifying accomplishment of important business challenges and giving to users confidence that their data are reliably and safely stored, protected and will are available when and where they would not be required.
The StorCenter ix2-200 Cloud Edition system is issued with a capacity of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 TB, and desktop NAS StorCenter ix2-200 Cloud Edition and StorCenter ix4-200d Cloud Edition devices offer simple four-step process of setup. As reported, the desktop NAS Iomega StorCenter device with initial cost less than $300 provides positive control and data protection for serious business and also the latest developments in the field of means of multimedia and remote access that gives the chance easily to address data – at office or worldwide (on the Internet).
Among numerous means of a business class of StorCenter ix2-200 and StorCenter ix4-200d Cloud Editions: the new Iomega Personal Cloud technology allowing users remote to address the ciphered files and to use them together with colleagues and friends (to 250 people) without any monthly or annual payment as in case of traditional "cloud" services; replication "device device" for the continuity of business processes and recovery of files; access of the block level on iSCSI for effective use of capacity of storage; the RAID 1 configuration for StorCenter ix2-200 and several RAID configurations for StorCenter ix4-200d to optimize data protection; remote access and management; support of Windows Active Directory; the QuikTransfer button on the front panel for simple copying of the selected files; the hard drives replaced by the user; support of several IP cameras; access of the block level on iSCSI in StorCenter ix4-200d of effective use of capacity of storage; for the small companies thinking of perspectives, certification of VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V and Citrix XenServer for installations with virtualization.
The cost of Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 Cloud Edition NAS begins about less than $300. Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d Cloud Edition NAS costs from $800 (the recommended retail prices in the USA).
On Iomega StorCenter devices the three-year guarantee with registration is given.
About compatibility of Symantec backup exec with devices of network storage Iomega storcenter
Iomega belonging to EMC announced in November, 2011 compatibility of series of products of network storage of Iomega StorCenter IX and PX with Symantec Backup Exec 2010 and also inclusions of these products in the list of the equipment, compatible to Symantec Backup Exec 2010 (Hardware Compatibility Listing, HCL).
"Together with Symantec which is a market leader of solutions for data protection, Iomega shows the commitment to provide to small and medium business network attached storages, compatible, reliable and available at the price, for application of means of backup and data recovery of Symantec", - Jonathan Huberman, the president of Iomega Corporation said.
Amit Walia, the vice president of Symantec for the products Backup Exec, told: "For Symantec extremely important that the leading developers of storage systems for SMB certified the products on compatibility with Backup Exec. Partnership with Iomega expands the choice of available to clients the network attached storages, best in the industry, on which it is possible to write backup copies".
After inclusion in the HCL list the network storage devices Iomega StorCenter are certified for use as disk target for the software of Backup Exec. The products Iomega can be connected to Backup Exec under the CIFS or iSCSI protocols and they are tested as Basic B2D (Backup-to-Disk) target and certified on compatibility with Symantec Granular Restore (GRT) technology.
The line of network systems of storage of Iomega StorCenter of the PX series received VMware Ready certification
Iomega announced in December, 2011 that all its line of network systems of storage of Iomega StorCenter of the PX series received certification of VMware Ready for use with servers with the software of VMware vSphere 5 that gives the chance to receive ideal cost-efficient solutions for deployment of cloud infrastructure of VMware and virtual workstations at the enterprises of small and medium business and in the organizations with the distributed structure.
Certification for NFS and iSCSI allows customers to use profitable flexibility of network systems of storage of Iomega and a possibility of the software of VMware vSphere 5. Certification means for iSCSI that servers under VMware vSphere 5 can use in storage system with block access the newest version of the file system of VMware of VMFS in VMware vSphere 5. This file system has such advantages as the increased scalability and performance, economy of the capacity of storage used by files of the small size. Certification for NFS gives to customers the chance to unroll the built-in technology of replication of files from Iomega for reserve or remote copying of the virtual machines given at protection. These options mean that customers can fully involve the advanced means of VMware vSphere 5 requiring the general network system of storage. Besides, network attached storages from Iomega support the CIFS protocol for storage of working these virtual machines in the environment of Microsoft Windows.
