2024: Product Announcement

The Russian army began using the new Irbis radar station (radar), capable of reconnaissance at a distance of up to 150 kilometers deep into the enemy's territory. This was announced on June 8, 2024 by the Russian Ministry of Defense, noting that this station is already being used by servicemen of the North group of forces during a special military operation.

Irbis radar

An important feature of Irbis is its ability to effectively counteract attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strike at civilians. Any missile launched by the enemy is immediately recorded by radar, after which information is promptly transmitted to air defense units to take appropriate measures.

In addition, the new radar station significantly increases the effectiveness of counter-battery warfare, ensuring accurate adjustment of Russian artillery fire. This allows not only to identify enemy firing points, but also to quickly suppress them.

Particular attention in the design of the Irbis is paid to protecting the crew and countering enemy unmanned aerial vehicles. The driver-electrician of the station with the call sign Fixik spoke about the presence of electronic warfare systems capable of suppressing UAV signals even on the approach. "The station cabin is an armored capsule that provides protection against fragments," he added.[1]
