2021: Iridium EDGE Release

On July 20, 2021, Iridium announced the launch of the Iridium EDGE transport monitoring device, which integrates with already installed GSM controllers.

Iridium EDGE can be connected to a device already installed in the car (for example, "AutoGRAPH") through a standard interface. The AvtoGRAF device is already installed on hundreds of trucks, but when the GSM coating ends, drivers disappear from the radar - the Iridium EDGE device provides drivers with communication everywhere and the ability to send an emergency message.

The system guarantees the safety of the cargo through location tracking and actuation of control sensors, as well as the safety of employees - using the SOS button, status monitoring and the ability to send and receive messages. Plus, Iridium EDGE provides duplex communication - the employee not only sends a signal for help and sees that the signal is received, but also receives a response message.

In an emergency, this is important, because so a person will understand that he can really count on help. The employee can receive messages from the center with individual instructions and recommendations. In addition, the driver of the car can send his own messages, and the system will automatically send data from critical sensors. So, as the company can be sure that the driver will not disappear from the radar, which means he will be safe, and the cargo will be under control, "said Ilya Vasiliev, iridium business development manager.

The monthly cost of monitoring through the Iridium satellite communication channel varies depending on the task and its implementation. The minimum tariff plan (~ 450 rubles per month) for Iridium EDGE allows you to send 50 standard events per month: 1 Kb of traffic is allocated per device through the Iridium satellite network, and sending a standard event takes no more than 20 bytes.

The cost of the device itself starts from 18,000 rubles. It became easier to complete the current system.
