2018: Announcement of the platform
In September, 2018 Intel and Alibaba announced the joint platform for boundary calculations. It is one of several projects which started the companies in the field of the computer calculations focused on work with data.
The solution which received the name Joint Edge Computing Platform represents an open architecture which integrates program and hardware providing and also AI technologies of Intel with the products Alibaba Cloud IoT.
Intel develops different types of AI accelerators, including the central processors programmed by the user gate arrays (FPGA), computing Movidius processors and also the OpenVINO tool kit which add computer vision and deep learning to the applications working with visualization within boundary calculations.
Joint Edge Computing Platform uses computer vision and artificial intelligence for data translation on network edge to analytical recommendations for business. The platform can be configured for the solution of specific objectives of boundary calculations for such areas as industrial production, "smart" construction and "smart" communities, transfers the ZDNet edition.
The new solution was deployed, in particular, at the plants of Chongqing Refine-Yumei Die Casting company therefore it was succeeded to increase five times the speed of detection of defects in comparison with manual processes.
In addition to Joint Edge Computing Platform, Intel and Alibaba companies created the consolidation Apsara Stack Industry Alliance. Creation of an ecosystem of hybrid cloud solutions of Apsara Stack for small and medium business will become its task.
Apsara Stack represents a cloud service, including Big Data, software of intermediate level, security and IaaS. It works at the same platform, as Alibaba Cloud and can be implemented into DPCs of clients as a hybrid or private cloud.[1]
