Use in RWT area

In early December 2024, it became known that the Kalashnikov concern had completed a series of tests of a new electric combat motorcycle in military units operating in border areas. The vehicle demonstrated unique characteristics for use in combat conditions.

According to Kalashnikov, the new development is characterized by increased maneuverability, stealth in thermal imaging devices and the ability to effectively avoid enemy unmanned aerial vehicles.

Alan Lushnikov, General Director of Concern Kalashnikov JSC, a member of the bureau of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia, stressed that a change in the nature of modern hostilities led to the demand for previously highly specialized equipment.

According to the press service of the concern, the key advantages of an electric combat motorcycle are high speed, ease of design and almost silent engine operation, which is critical when performing special tasks.

The concern continues to work on improving existing models and developing new types of motor vehicles in accordance with customer requirements. The concept of a motorcycle with a hybrid power plant using two power sources is in development.

The new transport was created specifically for use in modern military operations, where stealth and mobility play a key role. Electric drive provides not only environmental friendliness, but also tactical advantages.

Tests were carried out in real combat conditions, which made it possible to assess all the advantages and identify potential directions for design improvement. The motorcycle showed high efficiency in conducting reconnaissance and special operations.[1]

Product Announcement

In October 2024, the Kalashnikov concern announced the start of testing new models of electric combat motorcycles (BME) in the border regions of Russia. These vehicles are designed specifically for high complexity tasks and can be used in the area of a special military operation.

According to the Kalashnikov concern, the key feature of the new BMUs is their low noise level during engine operation and the absence of thermal radiation, which makes them almost invisible to enemy thermal imagers. These characteristics significantly increase the efficiency of motorcycles in reconnaissance and search operations.

The BME design is characterized by increased strength, improved cooling system and ergonomic design. Thanks to these features, motorcycles have high maneuverability and are able to successfully move over rough terrain, which is critical for performing special tasks in a combat zone.

BME testing is carried out in small batches, in accordance with the goals and objectives to be met by each specific model. The customer's representatives take part in the tests, which allows you to quickly take into account the wishes of end users and make the necessary technical improvements.

The development and implementation of electric motorcycles for military use is part of a general trend towards electrification of army transport. The use of electric motors allows not only to reduce the noise and thermal visibility of the equipment, but also to significantly reduce the cost of its operation.

Representatives of the concern note that the new BMEs can become an effective tool for conducting raid operations, especially in conditions requiring stealth and maneuverability. It is expected that based on the results of testing, a decision will be made on the large-scale production and supply of these motorcycles to the troops.

The development of BME is a continuation of the work of the Kalashnikov concern in the field of creating innovative military equipment. Previously, the company had already presented a civilian version of the Izh-Pulsar electric motorcycle, which served as the basis for the creation of a military modification.[2]
