2019: Sales
At the end of 2018 it became known of sales of the portable KardiaMobile ECG monitor and also creation for it a new algorithm which will allow to reveal episodes of the fibrillation of auricles (FA) in house conditions.
For diagnostics and monitoring of FP and also for informing on treatment options to patients daily ECG monitoring using the bulky equipment is usually carried out, however episodes often are passing and can be absent during the procedures.
The mobile KardiaMobile cardiomonitor is the small device which allows patients with FP regularly to control the status in house conditions. He turns on two electrodes which write the 30-second ECG from the patient's fingers, and the application for the smartphone which analyzes data retrieveds. Patients use the portable monitor for data collection of the ECG in house conditions which then transfer for the analysis to the attending physician. The price of the device is $100.
Producers developed a new algorithm which allows the device to classify automatically data of the patient as a normal rhythm or FP, without direct participation of the doctor. The algorithm uses for the analysis of 50 ECGs different parameters and studied at the data which are earlier received and analyzed by experienced doctors.
Researchers from Cleveland clinic and Marshall University by the beginning of 2019 study efficiency of a new algorithm KardiaMobile. The research included 52 patients with FP which used the KardiaMobile cardiomonitor for data collection of the ECG. Just before it to each patient the normal ECG with 12 assignments which data were estimated by doctors was made. KardiaMobile was succeeded to reveal 71.2% of cases of FP that speaks about rather low sensitivity. The specificity of the device was higher – the monitor correctly defined 94.1% of patients with FP among the revealed violations of a rhythm. Lower sensitivity was caused by impossibility of the adequate analysis because of too high or too low ChSS, or because of excessive noise. At an exception of these factors the sensitivity increased up to 96.6%.[1]
