At the MWC 2018 exhibition which came to the end on March 1 the Katim smartphone presentation from the DarkMatter company specializing in information security took place.

In the Katim model it is implemented several mechanisms protecting phone from cracking. In particular, in the Android operating system encryption algorithms of calls and messages in messengers are applied.

Besides, the separate physical button which powers off the microphone and the camera of the smartphone is installed on lateral face of the device. Thanks to it even the intelligence agency which is most advanced in terms of technologies will not be able to crack remotely the device and to get access to confidential data, note in DarkMatter.

The tube is also equipped with additional cryptographic protection  using which the memory card microSD will work only on  the device with  suitable cryptographic key. Besides, in the mode actively protection it is impossible to download data on the computer on USB — for work of this function the administrator's rights are necessary.

The smartphone is supplied with the fingerprint scanner, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, the 5.2-inch display with the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 12-megapixel the main and 5-megapixel frontal cameras, 4 Gbytes of RAM and a flash drive on 64 Gbytes.

Capacity of the rechargeable battery is 3800 mAh. Fast charging is supported. At a thickness of 8.5 mm the product weighs 175 grams.

As Faisal Al Bannai told the The National DarkMatter edition, in February, 2018 the company began to deliver the Katim smartphones to the first clients in the UAE. The first batch including several thousands of devices is transferred directly to the state and corporate customers. Interest in a product shows many people from Europe and from the Middle East, he noted.[1]
