2023: Start of Use

In the zone of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Russian troops began to use an improved anti-drone gun with a built-in drone suppressor LPD-820 developed at the Laboratory for Countering Industrial Espionage JSC. On August 20, 2023, the general director of the company Denis Oslomenko told the TASS agency.

According to him, the LPD-820 system allows you to detect a drone at a distance of up to a kilometer and turn on the suppression mode in advance. The system detects drones in the ranges from 2.4 GHz to 5.8 GHz, has the ability to suppress them at frequencies of 1.6 GHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. The detection range of drones reaches 1 km.

As the head of the Laboratory of Countering Industrial Espionage JSC explained, the antennas of the direction finder and the suppressor have the same angles of action. This allows you to suppress the drone exactly at the point where it was detected. Speaking about the principle of operation, Oslomenko said that the detector antenna is disconnected and can be used by a second operator.

A LPD-820 system is a detection and suppression system. The problem with any anti-drone gun is that it works on a drone when we see it, it is about 200-300 m. But if we see a drone, it means that it has already adjusted [fire] on us or is about to drop [ammunition]. This solution allows you to detect the drone at a distance of up to a kilometer when we do not yet see it, and immediately turn on the suppression mode. Thus, we cover the drone's approach for a kilometer, "he said.
