2023: Product Announcement

On October 26, 2023, Leica introduced the M11-P digital system rangefinder camera. It is said to be the world's first device in its class with built-in photo copyright protection.

A feature of the novelty is Leica Content Credentials technology. To confirm the authenticity of images, a special microchip is used, which stores digital certificates from the Federal Printing House. Germany When the protection function is activated, the device embeds an encrypted signature in the photographs, confirmed by the certificate and containing the name of the photographer, the brand and model of the camera, as well as EXIF photo data. This information cannot be changed, while the authenticity of certificates can be verified using free and open source CAI tools. The technology allows you to find out at any time whether the image is available in the original or edited version, and in the latter case gives an idea of the history of content changes.

In the age of digital photography, determining the authenticity of visual content is increasingly difficult and important. Now, with the opportunity to provide this evidence, we are re-building confidence in digital content and restoring the reputation of Leica cameras as authoritative tools for documenting world events, says the head of Leica Camera AG, Dr. Andreas Kaufmann.
