2023: Creation of the Vessel
At the end of March 2023, it became known about the creation in Russia of the latest minesweeper "Lev Chernavin" of the project 12700 "Alexandrit." According to Izvestia, the ship will be launched in April 2023, and then - after passing the tests - it will enter service with the Baltic Fleet - there, by the end of March 2023, crew training has already begun for this latest mine hunter.
On the minesweeper "Lev Chernavin," as well as on the rest of the ships of project 12700, a mine countermeasures circuit was formed using the latest highly efficient sonar stations (sonar) to search for underwater objects. They are also equipped with underwater drones on board the minesweeper - remote-controlled and autonomous vehicles for search and destruction in the coastal and marine zones of mines. They are integrated into an automated mine action control system, the main post of which is located on the ship itself. These "sniffers" are able to explore a large space and, if necessary, independently destroy sea mines, placing subversive charges on them. Also, the ship can use traditional minesweeping weapons.
It is also noted that Project 12700 minesweepers, due to the use of an effective complex of thrusters, have high maneuverability. This allows the ship to operate both in shallow water and in bay zones with limited space.
One of the main features of such basic minesweepers is a monolithic body of fiberglass formed by vacuum infusion. Similar technologies, the only ones in the world, are possessed by the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant, which produces these ships with a hull length of up to 80 meters. The technologies are patented and belong only to SNSZ[1]
