2024: Product Announcement
In early December 2024, the American company Microbot Medical introduced the compact robot surgeon Liberty for vessel operations. It is assumed that it can be used in neurovascular and cardiovascular operations, as well as in procedures on peripheral vessels.
The system also provides remote control capability to reduce the effects of radiation and physical exertion on physicians. Manufacturers hope that remotely conducted operations will be able to democratize the approach to treatment and provide access to endovascular intervention procedures in the most difficult-to-reach areas.
The company claims it is the world's first single-use, fully recyclable robotic system to carry out such procedures. The effectiveness of the new system is supported by the results of the Liberty study, completed in 2024, and the company expects to receive regulatory approval to sell the device in the second quarter of 2025.
"This is a key milestone for our company as the filing to register the Liberty system marks the beginning of our transition to commercially focused activities," noted Harel Gadot, Chairman, CEO and President of the company. - We are pleased that we can begin preparations for the expected release of products to the US market as early as the second quarter of 2025. Our goal is to carry out more than 2 million vascular procedures annually. Based on feedback from physicians and medical community experts, we are entitled to state that Liberty's one-time robotic system is capable of rethinking the approach to endovascular surgeries. "
In October 2024, the company unveiled marketing plans to bring Liberty to market and has already begun building commercial infrastructure to guide sales.[1]
