2023: Product Announcement
On October 18, 2023, the German company Lilium announced a partnership agreement with the American company EMC Jet, which provides air transportation management services. As part of the contract, Lilium for the first time organized sales of all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to private customers.
We are talking about the Lilium Jet apparatus - this is a 7-seater aircraft with an electric power plant. A key feature of this machine is a technology called Ducted Electric Vectored Thrust (DEVT). It provides for the use of arrays of special tunnel rotors instead of large-sized rotors, which are equipped with most other eVTOL aircraft. The DEVT system is responsible for both horizontal and vertical movement.
Lilium Jet can adapt to a wide range of customers and applications, with each configuration optimized for maximum efficiency. The most spacious cabin layout is intended for private flights: in this version, the aircraft is equipped with comfortable seats and other amenities. Alternatively, the cabin can be configured completely without seats - to serve the logistics market. The aircraft is capable of speeds up to 250 km/h.
The cost of Lilium Jet for private buyers is $10 million, including comprehensive service and a warranty package. The electric aircraft as of 2023 is available in a number of Texas cities, including Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Dallas. In the future, this eVTOL machine is planned to be sold throughout the United States. Until 2030, EMC Jet has exclusive rights to distribute the aircraft on the American market.[1]
