2025: Recall of 133,000 vehicles due to assembly defects
At the end of June 2025, Ford announced the recall of almost 133 thousand cars due to assembly defects. In such vehicles, some body parts may detach while driving.
As stated in the notification of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration USA (NHTSA), the problem affects the mid-size premium Lincoln Aviator crossovers. In these machines, rear door window grilles and post trim elements near the rear windows can fall off while driving. Departed parts can pose a danger to other road users, provoking the risk of an accident. As of the date of the recall, no information was received about any road accidents related to this problem.
The recall applies to Lincoln Aviator crossovers released between 2020 and 2025. A total of 132,914 vehicles fall under the program. However, Ford estimates that the defect is only actually present in 3.2% of these cars (approximately 4,250 vehicles). As of May 29, 2025, 1105 warranty claims related to the specified defect are known.
As part of the recall campaign, dealers will secure or replace the overlays on the rear posts and dividing bars of the windows. All work will be carried out free of charge for car owners.
Earlier, Ford recalled almost 274 thousand cars due to problems with the brake system. The defect affects Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs manufactured from 2022 to 2024. In these vehicles, the brake fluid may leak due to damage to the front brake lines as a result of their contact with the exhaust pipe of the engine air cleaner. Ford and Lincoln dealers will do the necessary repair work for free.[1]
