2020: A project startup of development of open source medical software for fight against COVID-19
At the end of July, 2020 Linux Foundation started the project of development of open source medical software for fight against COVID-19 coronavirus. The initiative which received the name Linux Foundation Public Health is directed to in time to notify workers of health care on spread of a virus and contacts with the infected persons.

The application was developed by volunteers from Shopify and is already implemented in Canada. Similar to it the COVID Green application was developed by NearForm company for the government of Ireland.
Besides, in a priority of Linux Foundation there is a project connected with Google Apple the Exposure Notification system and the GAEN platform. Both are used for tracking of contacts of patients with COVID-19 and for control of spread of an infection. The GAEN platform uses mobile application on phone of the user and Bluetooth Low Energy signal for continuous contact with nearby mobile devices and exchange of anonymous tokens. If afterwards it turns out that the user was infected with a coronavirus, the application can notify potential contact persons and provide them instructions how to protect himself and others.[1]
