The Lobachevsky supercomputer is used for calculations in labor-consuming problems of different fields of science and technology (physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, economy, finance, etc.):
- solution of biomedical tasks, in particular modeling of the live systems (modeling of heart, modeling of higher nervous activity, etc.);
- calculations and modeling of difficult mechanical space constructions;
- modeling and forecasting of ecological processes;
- modeling of dynamic processes in different scopes.
The Lobachevsky supercomputer provides with computing resources of requirement of the scientific and educational organizations and enterprises of Russia. The supercomputer is placed at Research institute of applied mathematics and cybernetics of UNN.
Among projects for which the new supercomputer - development of hovercrafts, production and processing of gas, train service modeling, design optimization is capable to carry out calculations.
The cost of the supercomputer is not designated - it was purchased according to the National Research University program.
The computing cluster took the 24th place among supercomputers of the universities of the world according to the published rating of TOP-500 of the most high-speed systems.
Among the Russian universities the cluster is on the third position, after the Supercomputer in Lomonosov Moscow State University and the St. Petersburg state polytechnical university.

On SK "Lobachevsky" the virtual clone of the person is created
On February 27, 2015 it became known of design on the Lobachevsky supercomputer of virtual model of a human body[1].
For creation of model of heart about 50 million parameters are used. Everything is created, each vessel.
Within assistance to physicians scientists of the Nizhny Novgorod state university of Lobachevsky on the supercomputer created a virtual clone of the person. Now scientists-physicians can model previously on it an optimal method of treatment of patients.
Scientists can "adjust" a virtual clone to any specific patient, taking into account his physiological features. Doctors can also analyze different options of treatment of the patient on the computer. Creation of a virtual clone of the person, according to scientists — very difficult task and a capacious computing experiment which can be made only using the supercomputer.
