2022: Drone announcement to assess air pollution at businesses
In Russia, a drone was created to assess air pollution at enterprises, which became known on July 18, 2022. We are talking about the development of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).
According to the developers, their drone is able to take air samples at different altitudes and record dust content, heavy metal content, the presence of oil and organic vapors, as well as the concentration of nitrogen oxides, carbon, sulfur, etc. The final functionality of the system may vary depending on the customer's requirements.
By July 18, 2022, the drone is controlled manually: the operator must set the flight route and select points for sampling. However, it is planned to create software that will allow air intake automatically. Also in development is the concept of an autonomous base for automated battery charging and drone maintenance, which will completely exclude a person from the monitoring process.
Manufacturing plants tend to occupy large areas. Monitor the state of the atmosphere on them with traditional methods of resource- and time-consuming: you need to either spend man-hours, or install many sensors. The unmanned aerial vehicle is great for this task and does not have the disadvantages of traditional control methods. Moreover, measurements with its help can be carried out outside the territory of the enterprise, which will allow controlling the possible spread of pollution, "said Anton Gromkov, one of the creators of the drone, a student at the Aerospace Institute No. 6 of the Moscow Aviation Institute. |
According to him, the created UAV can be used not only at enterprises - it can also be useful in the work of state environmental bodies, in specially protected natural areas, for scientific research of the atmosphere. Demand from organizations conducting environmental audits is possible.[1]
