"Monitoring of the Movement of the Rolling Stock" (MMRS) — the automated online system of car control of shunting work on the ways of the enterprise.

2018: Description of MDPS

(data are relevant for October, 2018)

For implementation of this solution the system of the account of axes installed at the railway station of the enterprise is used, additional infrastructure is not required. Access to MDPS does not require software installation on computers of users as work in the program is carried out via any web browser.

The main results which can be reached due to implementation of MDPS:

  • Increase in turnover of cars
  • Decrease in operating costs on maintenance and repair of the rolling stock and ways
  • Increase in efficiency of control of industrial railway transport

Achievement of results is possible for the account:

  • Increases in reliability of primary data about the rolling stock
  • Number-specific accounting of the rolling stock
  • Decrease in time expenditure of the shunting manager on planning, execution and control of shunting work for the stations
  • Registration of internal shunting transactions
  • Decrease in influence of a human factor on correctness of data on shunting work for the stations
  • Obtaining information on duration of idle times of cars and locomotives on the ways of the enterprise
  • Obtaining information on duration of shunting transactions on the ways of the enterprise
  • Obtaining information on duration of finding of cars on the ways of the enterprise

All work in MDPS is performed online on the electronic circuit of the railway station of the enterprise opened in the web browser on any computer of users. Basic functions of the program:

  • Display of provision and movement of cars, locomotives and units of special equipment in real time
  • Identification of cars, locomotives and units of special equipment in the different modes (automated from the ERP system, automated from the ARSCIS system, or the manual mode in case of lack of an opportunity to automate this process)
  • Monitoring of shunting work on the ways of the enterprise, access roads and stages
  • Monitoring of internal technology transportations
  • Automatic formation of the diagram of the performed movement
  • Visual information display about duration and location of idle time of cars
  • Visualization of a status of the carriage park by different criteria (a carriage marking, the directions of sending, a downtime, the submerged loads, on a run, on a technology status, etc.)

All information on shunting work of the rolling stock on the ways of the enterprise is saved, is available to viewing for any time frame and also is formalized in a report type for further analytical work:

  • Reports on cars:
    • Duration of finding of cars on the ways of the enterprise
    • Ways on which cars stayed the maximum quantity of time
    • the Average time of stay of cars on the way

  • Reports on locomotive work:

    • Duration of idle times of locomotives with cars and without cars
    • Time of the movement of locomotives with cars and without cars
    • Reports on the motion speed of locomotives

In MDPS control of the factors affecting security of internal railway is available transportations. For example:

  • Fixation of the facts of departure of structures on the pointer ways under an inhibit signal of the traffic light
  • Fixation of the facts of violation of the high-speed mode by the rolling stock
  • Fixation of the facts of the movement of the rolling stock in the absence of an open route for this rolling stock

The functionality of MDPS can extend due to integration with other automated systems:

  • The system of microprocessor centralization (MPTs) — integration with MPTs provides registration of shunting transactions completely in the automatic mode due to obtaining information on routes of the movement at the station. Therefore, there is no need for manual correction of shunting work on the electronic circuit.
  • The system of recognition of numbers of ARSCIS cars — reduction of handmade volume and decrease in influence of a human factor on correctness of primary data at registration of information on rolling stocks is possible due to integration into the ARSCIS system. This system automatically identifies the cars entering on the station and transfers data to MDPS.
  • ETRAN — is available to obtaining different data on the rolling stock located on the ways of the enterprise integration into ETRAN. Operational obtaining all necessary information on cars allows to work to users in one application without switching between programs.
  • ERP system of the enterprise — integration with ERP excludes need of manual data transfer between systems. From MDPS data on the executed shunting transactions, on location of cars on the ways can be transferred to the ERP system. From the ERP system on the electronic circuit — data on the cars entering on the station and already being on the ways of the enterprise. Thus operational information exchange between systems is provided.

Within implementation of the concept of continuous improvement of production processes of MDPS accumulates statistical data and provides them for the analysis and search of "narrow" places. So information on duration of finding of cars at the railway station for the selected period is provided to duration of idle times and duration of accomplishment of shunting transactions of cars for increase in turnover of cars at the enterprise, on each section of a way, duration of finding of cars under transactions of loading and unloading. Information on load of ways, including on intensity of the movement on each section of a way, about a downtime of cars, about the average speed of the movement is provided for decrease in operating costs and planning of running repair of railway tracks of the enterprise. Thus the continuous improvement of production processes reached due to use of MDPS provides long-term economic effect of implementation.
