2020: Development of the chip for dosing of medicines
On March 23, 2020 the RVC company reported to Zdrav.Expert that the scientist of Competence center of NTI based on MIET develops the chip in the form of the microfluid pump for dosing of medicines. Development will allow to reduce the cost of researches and to accelerate development of drugs and does not require carrying out researches on animals.
The developed system allows to make experiments on studying of interaction of liquid forms of medicines with biological liquids of an organism and cages of different bodies.
The microfluid systems in the form of body on the chip can create absolutely other, revolutionary process of testing of drugs, having made it less expensive and to allow to select individually drugs for each person.
The most important task of the solution - development on the chip of the system reproducing function of a liver for studying of toxicity and metabolism of drugs. Also there are prototypes of other bodies reproduced on the chip, for example, heart, lungs, intestines, kidneys, a brain, the reproductive and immune systems.
Each body on the chip represents the microfluid system of the small size which is made of flexible and transparent polymer. In this polymer microcapillaries, each with a diameter less than a millimeter and covered from within with the human cages taken from the body interesting us from the specific person are located. When nutrients, blood or the tested components, such as experimental drugs, are passed via these channels, cages in them repeat some basic functions of live body from which they are taken.
The technology is completely ready and can be scaled under tasks of the pharmaceutical companies. Potential customers of the solution – the research organizations, the medical and veterinary centers and the pharmaceutical companies.
Development of the model of the micropump was performed in 2019 within medical activity of the Center NTI "Secsorics" based on MIET. A problem of the next stage – to provide development commercialization. If in interaction from pharmaceutical industry the problem of substitution of tests for laboratory animals is successfully solved, then economic effect of implementation of development will be calculated by hundreds of millions of rubles a year, noted the director of command center technology development of NTI in RVC Arsen Gareyev
