2022: Withdrawal of defective coolers
On March 10, 2022, MSI announced the voluntary recall of its universal liquid cooling systems MAG CoreLiquid 360R and 240R after some users reported unusually high processor temperatures. After studying the question, the MSI determined that a "small part" of these models was prone to sediment, which could lead to clogging.
Proper flow of coolant is critical for proper operation of the liquid cooler. Cold liquid flows from the radiator to the processor unit, where it absorbs heat from the processor, and then returns to the radiator to cool and return to the processor again.
The problem with coolers appeared after users began to notice that the processor temperature in idle mode exceeds 62 ° C. MSI states that the problem affected a "small part" of the coolers, and that it is caused by the accumulation of sediment, a by-product of the coolant used, which can accumulate over time and cause clogging.
Our preliminary investigation revealed that a small portion of the liquid coolers produce sediment that can lead to clogging. However, this will not cause any damage to your system, since processors are equipped with an overheating protection mechanism. MSI cares deeply about the common experience of our users, and we have simplified our processes to ensure faster product replacement, "the recall page says. "We will provide a comprehensive replacement service [...] for all affected products that have abnormal heat dissipation," MSI said in a statement. |
MSI will provide a comprehensive replacement service (MAG CoreLiquid 240R V2/360R V2) for all affected products that have abnormal heat generation: If the processor temperature exceeds 60 ° C in idle mode, and the cooler is installed correctly and a thermocouple is applied between the processor and cooler.[1]
