In the fall of 2012 at an exhibition on high-performance computing of SC12 the RSK group showed a prototype of the computing system of 10 petaFLOPS ranges (PFLOPS — quintillion operations per second) created in the Interdepartmental supercomputer center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (JSCC RAS). The MVS-10P supercomputer based on architecture of RSK Tornado is a system with the latest Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors. The new supercomputer JSCC RAS set several records in the different nominations at once. The prototype of this powerful system with liquid cooling and with a peak capacity of 523.8 TFLOPS (trillions of operations per second) establishes the energy efficiency level, record for Russia and the CIS, more than 1680 megaflops/W that is 4.8 times higher than the previous record on energy efficiency for this region (which was also belonging to a system based on architecture of RSK Tornado with liquid cooling).

Application of the advanced liquid cooling system allows to reach computing density 181 TFLOPS on one rack 80sm*80sm*42u or 141 TFLOPS/m3 that it is 3.8 times better than the previous world record for h86 architecture. High computing density is necessary for the supercomputers of ekzaflopny range of performance containing hundreds of computing racks with energy consumption more than 100 kW everyone.

The computing field of a prototype consists of 3328 computing cores of the Intel Xeon processors E5-2690 and 25376 cores of Intel Xeon Phi SE10X coprocessors. In each node support of large volume of energy efficient RAM — 64 GB is provided (DDR3-1600, low voltage green memory) that makes 4 GB on each computing core of Intel Xeon and totally 13 Tb of OZU for all system. The high-speed data network is based on advanced technology of FDR Infiniband (56 Gbps). Also, the new supercomputer JSCC RAS is equipped with technology of flexible management by energy consumption "RSK the Ecosystem" which allows to reduce in addition the total cost of ownership (TSO) by 25%. This technology of energy management was for the first time shown by RSK group at the European supercomputer exhibition ISC'12 in Hamburg and for the first time implemented in the MVS-10P supercomputer based on architecture of RSK Tornado.

2020: Use for fight against a coronavirus

On March 26, 2020 the Interdepartmental supercomputer center of the Russian Academy of Sciences announced (JSCC RAS) selection  of computing resources of the upgraded cluster system of MVS-10P  for researches for the purpose of fight against a koronavirusny infection of COVID-19. Read more here.

2013: The most energy efficient supercomputer in Russia

The MVS-10P supercomputer on the basis of architecture of RSK Tornado set in the Interdepartmental supercomputer center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (JSCC RAS) reserved the 30th place in the rating of Green500 with the best energy efficiency indicator for the Russian systems: 1949.3 megaflops / Tue. This the value, record for Russia and the CIS countries, is 5.5 times better than the previous record on energy efficiency for our region.

Peak capacity of a prototype of the MVS-10P system in MVTs RAS on the basis of the innovation architecture of RSK Tornado with liquid cooling of all components of server payments of Intel S2600JF, including the Intel Xeon processors E5-2690, Intel Xeon Phi SE10X coprocessors and solid state drives of Intel of SSD 330, is 523.8 TFLOPS (trillions of operations per second), and performance on the LINPACK test reaches 375.7 TFLOPS.
