2024: Product Announcement

The design bureau (KB) "Tallamho" ("Pathfinder") has developed an acoustic detector "Malik," capable of detecting any type of drones. The first of its kind device in Russia detects unmanned aerial vehicles by sound, regardless of the radio frequencies they use. The product developers spoke about this at the end of March 2024.

According to them, in recent months, a special military operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has shifted radio frequencies to 720-730 megahertz to bypass defense against drones. There are no widespread means of determining drones at such frequencies by the end of March 2024, so Russian developers decided to focus on sound during the operation of UAVs.

Different drones buzz in different situations a little differently, so we collect a library of signatures, features of the sound of drones, put them on the server. People using Malik detectors can connect them to the Internet and automatically replenish the list of signatures, - quotes TASS the interlocutor from the design bureau.

It is noted that the device is assembled from components available in the civil market. It was developed in two modifications, one of which can be used to protect dugouts, trenches and vehicles. A more compact version of the device is mounted on a bulletproof vest and helps to hide from an enemy drone.

As stated in the Tallamho design bureau, with the help of Malik, rangefinders, anti-tank guided missile lasers and sniper sights can also be identified. In addition, it is expected that the device will be able to detect the Stinger MANPADS beam, which is guided by a dual infrared and ultraviolet laser. In the future, this option will be checked during tests, the organization added.[1]
