The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping issued a classification certificate for the Marlin-KN remote-controlled uninhabited underwater vehicle (TNPA) manufactured by Tetis Pro JSC. This was announced in April 2024 by the press service of the department.
The new classification direction was created in response to a request from the industry to systematize technical requirements that ensure the safe operation of NPA. The development of the direction is in close cooperation with participants in the marine robotics market, the register said in a statement. |
"Marlin - KN" is a development of the model "Marlin-350," which was adopted by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation as equipment for minesweepers of the Navy (Navy). The robot is designed to detect and identify objects at a depth of 350 meters, can be used for search, inspection and emergency rescue operations, and destroy mines.
With a length of just under one meter, the underwater vehicle weighs only 50 kg. It is capable of working in a temperature corridor from -20 to + 50 degrees. The working depth of the TNPA is 350 m, and the speed is about 5 km/h, or, in marine terms, 2.5 knots.
The device moves and maneuvers with the help of six propulsors. Control commands are transmitted to the underwater drone via a special cable. According to it, operators receive in response telemetric data of TNPA and a picture from its sensors and video cameras. An integrated image is displayed on the display, and the current parameters of the drone and its location are superimposed on it.
The Tetis Pro company has existed since 1991, operates in the market of search and rescue equipment and underwater technical equipment, has offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg (by April 2024).[1]
