2025: Product Announcement

Russian scientists have developed the first domestic mask-free optical lithograph that will create DNA chips, gene synthesis systems, sequencers and other advanced technologies. The appearance of the device on the territory of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology opens up opportunities for the development of the biomedical and agro-industrial industry. Maxim Nikitin, head of the laboratory of nanobiotechnologies at MIPT, announced this on December 11, 2025.

Maxim Nikitin noted that the device was developed by specialists from the Russian company Abisens, which he founded, aimed at developing high-tech domestic scientific equipment. Russian physicists and engineers managed to create an advanced lithograph capable of applying complex structures of microscopic scales to the surface of silicon chips.

The first Russian maskless optical lithograph for the production of DNA chips has been launched

The key feature of the development is the lack of the need for specialized mask templates. The use of masks prevents the organization of cost-effective single or small-scale production. Mask-free technology allows you to flexibly change the configuration of applied structures without making new templates.

Maxim Nikitin said in an interview with a TASS correspondent that it has become noticeably easier to create scientific devices than in the past. In this regard, an explosive increase in the use of new devices in biology and biotechnology is expected. Whoever starts using this new equipment faster and integrating it into their research and business will win the tech race.

Maxim Nikitin stressed that this equipment will soon become difficult to copy, which prompts you to enter this area. The presence of devices that can be independently improved and reconfigured can strengthen Russian biology. The ability to modify equipment for specific tasks gives an advantage over the use of imported analogues with fixed characteristics.

According to TASS, with the support of Fiztech, scientists are actively engaged in domestic scientific instrumentation and have already created several advanced scientific devices. Among them is a domestic optical tomograph with a unique camera capable of fixing single photons. The creation of its own maskless lithograph was a big step forward in the development of Russian biotechnology.[1]
