2024: Product Waiver

In early July 2024, it became known that the chain does McDonald's not plan to return options for burgers with artificial meat to the menu plant-based after the failure of the McPlant burger tests San Francisco in and Dallas.

As it turned out, American consumers are not interested in buying plant-based proteins. Previously, the network collaborated with manufacturer Beyond Meat to launch McPlant's line of fake meat burgers and nuggets, but the companies' hopes were not met.

Plant-based products have so far been left off the menu, but McDonald's top executive Erlinger does not rule out the possibility of returning salads. This will depend on the availability of demand from customers.

If people really want to buy McDonald's salads, we're happy to re-launch a line of salads, "Erlinger said. - But our experience has shown that consumers are looking for something different at McDonald's.

While artificial meat has proven to be unclaimed, some shift in consumer tastes has still emerged, and McDonald's is following a trend of swapping beef dishes for chicken meat. "Today we sell more chicken as a brand than beef," Erlinger said.

To attract shoppers, McDonald's has officially launched a "$5 lunch" combo promotion expected to last about four weeks. The combo includes a McChicken or McDouble to choose from, fries and a drink, and a four-course McNugget lunch. In the food price wars, McDonald's is also betting on mobile apps and offering free fries every Friday until the end of 2024, provided customers spend at least $1 on the app.[1]
