2018: Prototype of MedVR LAP Expert (6th level of realness)
On July 9, 2018 the ThePsycho company, the developer of the innovation products in the field of virtual reality (VR), announced development by specialists of Medviar company (MedVR), the ThePsycho direction, prototype of the surgical simulator on the basis of VR. The solution which received the name the laparoscopic MedVR LAP Expert 6 simulator of level of realness of educational process represents a hardware and software system with the built-in surgical instruments. The simulator helps to simulate operational intervention in the fields of laparoscopic (low-invasive) surgery.
According to the CEO "Medviar" Evgenia Kostyushova, at all development stages of the simulator development engineers of the medical equipment, the practicing doctors-surgeons and scientific task force participated. The basis of a prototype was formed by the system of VR tracking Psycho Tracking (development of ThePsycho) which is capable to define with a subcentimetric accuracy the movements of all body of the person, including legs, hands and small motility of fingers.
To start work with the simulator to the trainee will suggest to put on glasses of virtual reality which project the image of a human body and bodies on the screen of the monitor at which the cadet gets to the high-realistic operating room. All movements during transaction are fixed by the system of tracking thanks to which the surgeon can see not only to the mechanic of hands, but also receives the most complete feedback in interaction with internals of operated.
According to representatives "Medviar", the simulator allows to increase skills and to fulfill technology of carrying out laparoscopic transactions. In turn, implementation of simulators on the basis of virtual reality of MedVR will help to reduce overhead costs of the equipment of educational offices and to replace the traditional simulyatsionny equipment losing relevance.
MedVR is the first project which is using VR technologies in medicine, received resident status Skolkovo — the head "IoT, Electronics, Digital Health" of an IT cluster of Skolkovo Foundation Sergey Voinov said. — it is right that in the next few years we will see great interest from the market and investors to the subject VR in medicine. If to look at a step forward, then many telemedicine services will be able to transfer communication with the patient to virtual reality, there will be other level of data visualization when carrying out transactions, rehabilitation of patients after a stroke by means of VR technologies, etc. But technologies of training on which MedVR works are tomorrow of digital medicine. And that it came as soon as possible, the command of Skolkovo Foundation will support the project. |
